Riverside, Illinois Police Department To Start Tweeting The Names of Anyone Arrested for Drinking & Driving
According to the Chicago Tribune, the Riverside police department announced that it will tweet the names of anyone arrested for DUI – drunk driving. Police Chief Tom Weitzel hopes that that seeing the names and the amount of DUI arrests that Riverside makes will send a message to its residences.
Police blotters in local newspapers have been around for many years, and this is a just another way to get information to people through social media. Weitzel emphasized that this is not anything different from what the police department already does under the curent public information laws.
